Ingredients To Make Pizza With Tortillas!

You can choose your tortilla’s size depending on the type of meal you want.

  • For an evening snack, 6” pizza tortilla recipe will fill your stomach until dinner is served.
  • 4” tortillas are perfect for party appetizers. You can bake 4 tortilla pizzas in one go. (12 if you use two trays)
  • 8” or 10” gordita style tortilla is perfect for when you want to have a hearty dinner and sleep the night with a giddy smile.

For dinner tortilla pizza recipes, I suggest you choose a thick tortilla variety for two reasons:

  • Because your pizza is bigger (8” or 10”), a sturdier base will hold structure.
  • You can also slice the gordita bread and fill it up with mozzarella cheese.

Other than that, you can also use whole wheat, corn, all-purpose flour tortillas as well! See if you can find strong flour tortillas because that’s what is actually used for an authentic dough.

How To Make Tortilla Pizza?

(You can use the same steps to make 4”, 6”, 8” homemade pizza tortillas!) Below I have shared two of my favorite “pizza with tortilla” recipes; one is vegetarian, and the other is made using pepperoni.

The easy route to how to make pizza tortilla or pizza on a tortilla:

  1. Smear olive oil on the tortilla.
  2. Sprinkle garlic powder, salt, and pepper on top of the tortilla.
  3. (Preheat oven at 400?) Place the stuffed tortilla on a baking tray and bake for 1-2 minutes at 400?. Don’t let it sit in the oven for too long because it will harden the base.

4. Take the tortilla out and smear your favorite pizza sauce. I personally love to make my own pizza sauce. It’s quite easy, but you cannot blend, says the professional.
5. Optional: To make pizza sauce, mash the tomatoes with your hands. Skip the blender. Add salt, a few basil leaves, and a bit of olive oil. If you don’t have the time, store-bought pizza works just well.
6. Sprinkle fine parmesan cheese.

7. Layer with mozzarella cheese. An authentic pizza loves buffalo mozzarella. So if you have it, one ball (hand torn) should be enough. Make sure the mozzarella is thin for it to melt easily. You can add more if you’d like. If you don’t have buffalo mozzarella, any variety would work!

8. Drizzle olive oil on top.
9. Last, add basil leaves to the pizza.

Now, you must be wondering if this is too little topping. In all authenticity, a true Italian pizza is all about simplicity. If you want tradition, stick to these ingredients and teleport to Naples, Italy. I did!

Of course, I love the English/American versions of Pizza, but you gotta try the real flavors once in a while.

If you want more toppings, add pepperoni and sprinkle a bit of oregano.
