Ever since I tried this famous Cheeseburger tacos Tiktok recipe, I have cooked it every time my stomach demanded something delicious, stuffed with meaty goodness, and at the same time, requiring less effort and time.

I might be guilty, but the truth is— replacing the cheeseburger bun with a tortilla made it a whole lot easier to eat, not to forget how crispy each bite is compared to the soft bun.

Tortilla is your first important Ingredient for the fusion. Try to grab yourself some original Mexican tacos. When I do have the extra time, I like to make my own Mexican tortillas.

  • One (6 inches) tortilla: One single cheeseburger taco is sure to satiate your stomach. If you have a group to entertain, bring out your flat grill and make four to five cheeseburger tacos in one go.
  • 8 ounces (200-250 gm) of beef per tortilla: An original cheeseburger uses 8 ounces of beef and we’ll be going for the same amount to cover our tortilla entirely.
  • ¼ Freshly ground pepper or as per taste.
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt.
  • One teaspoon onion powder
  • 1-2 Cheddar cheese slices: I go with two because I absolutely love cheese, but one is all that you need for this cheeseburger taco recipe.
  • ¼ or ½ cup chopped lettuce.
  • ½ chopped white onion.
  • ½ tomato dice
  • Crushed cilantro.
  • ½ cup mayonnaise: I used cheese mayonnaise for this smash burger taco recipe, but you can go ahead with any type.
  • ½ tablespoon mustard sauce, a cheeseburger essential.
  • ½ tablespoon ketchup: Now, I’m not a fan of ketchup and avoid it at all costs, but the other ingredients in this cheeseburger sauce balance its taste.
  • Spices: Cumin powder, Chilli powder, salt, black pepper, and onion powder.
  • 1 tablespoon Pickle relish.
  • ¼ chopped Sweet pickle
  • ¼ sweet pickle juice.
  • A few drops of Worcestershire sauce.

How To Make Smash Burger Tacos At Home?

Preparation time: 20 minutes!
Let’s start with preparing the vegetables and sauce.


  • Chop all the vegetables: lettuce, white onion, tomato, and cilantro. Cilantro is optional.
  • Mince the beef finely: Add a few drops of Worcestershire sauce and grind it evenly.

Sauce preparation:

  • For the sauce, take a bowl and add ½ cup of mayonnaise, ½ tablespoon mustard sauce, and ½ tablespoon ketchup.
  • Add in your favorite spices— I have added ½ teaspoon of cumin powder, chili powder, ground black pepper, and a bit of kosher salt.
  • Add in pickle relish. You can prepare your relish at home, just add vinegar, pickle juice, and sugar to minced pickles.

Mix everything and your sauce is ready!

Get Your Beef Ready:

We use Worcestershire sauce to prep our meat. The sauce is made of tamarind, anchovies, molasses, sugar, garlic, and onion. It’s used in meaty dishes to enhance the overall depth of your meat!

When grinding your beef, add a few drops of the sauce for it to mix well. You can also coat it on top of your meat.

Get your tortillas ready for your burger tortilla recipe:

Take your tortillas and spread 8 ounces of meat evenly on them. Don’t just let the beef sit in the middle. Instead, let it cover the whole tortilla.

The actual cooking begins:

  • Heat your skillet or flat grill.
  • Spray or smear a bit of olive oil. You don’t need too much of it!
  • Place your beef-layered tortilla on the skillet. Let it cook for about a minute. Sprinkle black pepper and kosher salt on the top.

  • Turn the tortillas over and let the beef side pan-fry for about 3-4 minutes on low heat or until your beef turns brown from pink.
  • Turn the tortillas over again and place one (or two) cheddar cheese slices on top. Add cut-pickles. Cover the skillet with a lid and allow the cheese to melt properly!
  • If you want your tortillas to be extra crispy, you can continue loading the stuffing while it’s still on the skillet or pan. But make sure, you do this on low flame.
  • Bring your cheesy beef tortilla to the table and start adding cut vegetables and chopped vegetables— start with lettuce, then onion, and then tomato.

Tips To Make Your Cheeseburger Smash Tacos Extra Delicious:

Here’s what you need to remember:

  1. Always season your sauce and meat!
  2. Choose the mayonnaise of your choice. I prefer cheese mayo, but you can go for other seasoned varieties.
  3. Add a bit of butter when flipping the tortilla over. It will add a rich salty taste to the beef.
  4. For an extra crispy taste, don’t remove the tortilla from your pan until you are done adding the vegetables and sauce.

1. Can we substitute beef with other meat varieties?

Yes, you absolutely can! You can substitute beef with ground turkey, ground chicken, or ground pork. I have tried ground chicken once for my cheeseburger tacos recipe and it turned out great!

You can also prepare bacon cheeseburger tacos by replacing beef with bacon! Of course, you cannot flip the bacon over, but you can pan-fry the tortilla from both sides and put already-fried bacon on top. The rest of the recipe goes similarly.

2. What to serve with cheeseburger tacos?

Regular fries and coke are the go-to side dishes for cheeseburgers, but you can also go with Mexican delicacies, such as refried beans, taco slaw, the seven-layer dip, jalapeno poppers, grilled corn, or Mexican rice.

3. Toppings for cheeseburger tacos?

I personally love freshly chopped cucumber, hot jalapenos, red onions, and beetroot.
