After cheeseburger tacos, my next quest was the “burger quesadillas.” Making American fast food the Mexican style has found a savory corner inside my heart. They are so easy to make yet so delicious and mouthwatering that you don’t want to stop eating, believe me!
Forget the Big Mac that will have your mouth at exercise, quesadilla cheeseburgers are easier to bite, crispier, saucier, and crunchier, and give you the best of both dishes.
Making the burger quesadilla with pico de gallo takes the recipe to the next level.
Each bite is a savory delight, it’s not a burger on a tortilla, it’s a cheeseburger BETWEEN tortillas, and that’s double crunch for you! The best part is, that it took me only 30 minutes to get this exotic comfort food ready!
Why You Would Love This Quesadilla Burger Recipe!?
Look at that tortilla’s golden brown crunch! It looks delicious, right? That’s because it’s true! Here’s everything that made me try burger quesadillas twice in the last week:
- Taste: My first bite was a combination of many great flavors and tastes.
The pan-fried ground beef is seasoned with kosher salt, onion powder, and black pepper powder. All three seasonings alleviate its taste and texture. The meat gets crispier on the outermost layer and tender on the inside— the perfect combination.
I love the smokey taste of Jalapeno in the pico de gallo.
The sauce adds a tangy and savory twist to the whole combination like they do in every burger recipe. Cheddar cheese further adds to the gooey goodness inside.
- Easy to bite: I will agree, the few attempts at eating cheeseburger tacos had me questioning everything. I spilled the filling generously. However, with burger quesadillas I had my luck revived. Because the filling is layered between two tortillas, it’s easier to eat without spilling.
- Very filling: One burger quesadilla is enough to make you feel full, but don’t make me stop you from having two! It would take roughly 30 minutes to get that sizzling golden crust.
- Versatile: You don’t need too many or too difficult-to-find ingredients for this recipe. That’s what makes this recipe one of my favorites.
Ingredients For Cheeseburger Quesadillas Recipe
Keep tortillas stocked in your kitchen because you will make this recipe quite often for the taste and ease it delivers.
For one smash burger quesadilla:
- Two tortillas: We are making burgers with tortillas, so each quesadilla will require two tortillas.
- Eight ounces of ground beef: We’ll use the same amount of meat used in an original burger. If you don’t have ground beef at hand, any other ground meat will work.
- Bacon: Bacon is optional, but if you have some at hand, pan-fry and add them above your ground meat.
- Ground black pepper to season the meat and the sauce.
- ¼ Kosher salt or as-per-taste.
- One teaspoon of onion powder.
- Shredded cheddar cheese: Five slices (You can add more on top of ground beef if you’d like)
- 3 chopped garlic bulbs.
- ½ cup chopped lettuce.
- ½ chopped white onion.
- Two finely diced fresh tomatoes.
- One finely chopped jalapeno.
- Chopped cilantro
- Lime.
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 2 tablespoons of ketchup
- One tablespoon mustard sauce
How To Make Quesadilla Burger in 30 Minutes?
You will need a flat grill for this recipe or two pans.
Preparation:
- Chop all the vegetables: You can either choose to make pico de gallo or simply add fresh vegetables to the quesadilla smash burger. I personally think you’d love pico de gallo burger quesadillas more than the latter option.
- Mince the beef finely.
Pico de gallo Preparation:
- Take a bowl and add chopped onion and jalapeno.
- Pour ½ cup of lime juice into the vegetables.
- Sprinkle salt above and mix well.
- Let it marinate for a while.
- Next, add chopped tomatoes and cilantro.
- Mix and set aside, your pico de gallo is ready.
Quesadilla Burger Sauce Preparation
- Take a bowl and add mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard sauce, and black pepper salt.
- Mix well; your sauce is ready!
Meat preparation
Add a few drops of Worcestershire sauce to your ground beef; it enhances the meat’s flavor. Do it when you are grinding your beef/meat.
Tortilla preparation
Take two tortillas and cover them with shredded cheese!
The actual cooking begins:
- Heat your skillet, pans, or flat grill.
- Smear oil on the pan and let it heat.
- Add chopped garlic to the pan: Pan-frying garlic will fill your kitchen with an exotic aroma.
- Add half of the chopped jalapeno: Pan fry alongside garlic, both will add a smokey and sharp flavor to your meat.
- Once nicely brown, add your meat. Now, some prefer to prepare a patty for their quesadilla cheeseburgers, but I find them uneasy compared to 6 inches of Mexican tortillas. The patty would be too small to balance between tortillas. Thus, making it difficult to eat and enjoy. Instead, I like to pan-fry meat until it’s a sizzling shade of brown.
- Sprinkle kosher salt, onion powder, and black pepper and mix well. The meat will take 7-8 minutes to have a nice brown color.
- In the meantime, take another pan, smear it with butter, and place one tortilla. Secure it with a lid to ensure the cheese layered melts properly. If you have a flat grill, you can cook and toast your tortillas at the same time. It’s not an issue if you don’t have a flat grill, two pans/skillet would do just fine.
- Once the meat is cooked, set it aside in a bowl. Use the grease left behind to toast your second tortilla. Secure it with a lid to let the cheese melt.
- Once the cheese melts, take one tortilla off the pan and start layering.
- First goes the ground beef, let it evenly cover your cheesy tortilla
- followed by chopped lettuce and pico de gallo.
- Pour the prepared sauce over and cover it with the second tortilla.
- Your burger quesadilla is ready!
Tips To Make Your Burger Quesadilla Tastier!
- If you like a crusty tortilla, assemble the burger quesadilla on the pan instead of taking down the tortilla off the pan. Ensure you do this on a low flame to avoid burning the tortilla.
- Add a bit of butter when pan-frying ground beef. Don’t forget to pan-fry the beef with garlic and jalapeno. Both will add an exotic heat to the meat.
- Prepare pico de gallo instead of simply layering your veggies. The tangy lime taste will take your burger quesadilla recipe to the next level.
- If you want a patty in your burger quesadilla, flatten them on the pan. Too thick of a patty will unbalance the whole structure.
- If going with a patty, add cheese on top because more cheese makes everything better!
- You can also add cheese to pan-fried ground beef at the time of assembling. But to make sure the cheese melts, assemble the burger quesadilla on the pan.
- If you like your recipes spicier, don’t stop yourself from adding chili and cumin powder to the sauce, pico de gallo, and ground beef.
